Michael Tobin is a well known British entrepreneur, author, businessman and philanthropist. Michael Tobin has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Telecity group which is the data operator of the FTSE 250. For Michael Tobin’s services towards the digital economy he was part of the Honours List on The Queen’s Birthday and was subsequently awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the year 2014.

Personal Life

Michael Tobin was born on the 16th of January in the year 1964. Details about his early life, biography, personal life and spousal information are missing altogether in the media. However, his personal life is highlighted by the charitable work that is undertaken by him. Michael Tobin is widely recognised for being the 'Third Sector Business Charity Champion’ especially for his contributions towards securing funds via fund-raisers and his work along-with numerous charitable institutions. Some of the most notable charities include Action for Children, Make-a-Wish Foundation, The Prince’s Trust, Diana Award, The British Asian Trust, The Lewis Moody Foundation, Friends of Loomba Trust, Cooperation Ireland and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

In the year that Michael Tobin started off as the CEO of the charitable initiative called Sleepout UK along with the Chief Executive Officer of Action for Children, named Tony Hawkhead. The charity primarily involves CEO’s of high profile company’s sleeping on the street to raise the homelessness issues faced by the children on the streets. In addition to this, Michael Tobin also supports Byte Night which itself is exactly similar to the CEO sleeping out initiative by Action For Children.

In the year 2016, Michael Tobin was successful in raising 100,000 GBP for The Prince’s Trust by running almost 40 marathons in 40 days. Throughout his business career, he was part of Rockwell Corp, ICL, Tricord, Global-Serve, ICG, and Goupil . Michael Tobin even became a part of Redbus and took of the company as the Sales and Marketing Director. Michael Tobin played a key role in the merger between Telecity and Redbus and became the CEO of the joint venture called TelecityGroup in the year 2006. Michael Tobin was influential in implementing the Gold Standard membership of the global consortium Green Grid at Telecity. This helped it in achieving the title of the first data operator to earn the Carbon Trust Standard in the year 2010.

Later in the year 2014, Michael Tobin quit the TelecityGroup as there were issues with the board of directors. Being an advisor to the industry Michael Tobin gave his personal contribution to the Digital Britain Report by Lord Carter. In the year 2009, in the month of June, the Digital Britain Report of June 2009, set out to outline the Government’s vision to maintain the position that Britain holds within the global digital economy.

As of now, Michael Tobin holds numerous non executive roles worldwide including Ixcellerate, Park Place Tech,Satellite Solutions Worldwide Plc (Europasat), Pulsant Ultrahaptics, Chayora, Teraco Data Environments and Instrumental, Basefarm and EURO-DIESEL.
