Personal life
Tamerka Cottle was born in the year 1975 on July 14. She was a resident in College Park, Georgia in the United States. She was the only child of her parents and has been brought up in an African American family. Cottle belonged from the white ethnicity. As a child, Cottle was always interested in cultural events like dramas, singing and dancing. She wanted to pursue her career as an artist from her high school days but her parents did not give her the permission.
After completing her graduation, Cottle went to the R&B quartet Xscape. She had music in her genes as both her father and her uncle were famous musicians. They formed the music band group known as R&B group The Tams. Cottle has received a lot of inspiration from her father. Her father has always supported her passion to become a singer. Even, initially, she took the training of singing from her father. Cottle initially got into a relationship with Zonnie "Zeboe" Pullins.
She was in a relationship with him for quite a few years and also gave birth to their daughter. In the year 2000, Cottle started dating T.I. Cottle who is a rapper. The couple dated each other for ten years and finally got married in the year 2010. They organised a big fat wedding at the Miami Beach, Florida. The couple was blessed with two sons and a daughter. In the year 2016, Cottle gave birth to her daughter from T. I. Cottle. However, recently it was heard that the couple would consider divorce.
Career
Cottle got her first chance to record a song from Jermaine Dupri when he heard her singing at his birthday party. She recorded three singles, Off the Hook, Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha, Traces of My Lipstick with the band which became very popular. Cottle’s popularity rose to heights when she got the chance to sing lead vocals in some of the singles of Xscape which are "Do You Want To?", "My Little Secret", "Understanding", "All I Need", "Am I Dreamin'", "Love's a Funny Thing".
However, the band got parted after the third album was released. During her career with Xscape, Cottle has received two Soul Train Music Awards for her incredible performance, being a fresher in the industry. Later, she also received a Grammy Award with one of her group member from Xscape. However, in the year 2005, Cottle reunited with two of her group members and released an album called “Unchained" by Xscape.
She is now focusing on her new project, OMG Girlz with Kiesha Miles. She has also made various guest appearances in many television shows when her reality show, Tiny and Toya was released on BET. Cottle has actively participated in the song writing process of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You". Nowadays, Cottle is spending most of time with her family member and has taken a leave from her professional life.
