As an American citizen, Ray has mixed ethnic backgrounds, with his mother Elsa Providenza Scuderi having Italian ancestry while her father James Claude Ray had French, Scottish and Welsh origin and nationalities. Ray’s family travelled to Lake George when she was eight years old. Ray’s Educational history has been largely overshadowed by her career in cooking. However, she began her study at Lake George Junior-Senior High School before she later attended Pace University where she completed her degree education.

Rachael got married to lawyer John Cusimano in Italy in 2005, with both professing Catholicism. In terms of collective investment as a couple, the yet-to-have-child duo have homes in Lake Luzerne, New York, and Manhattan's Greenwich Village. She is fond of spending a lot of her free time at her cottage in the Adirondacks with her husband & her darling dog pet, Isaboo. She is said to spend circa $80,000 on a Private Jet for the dog.
