Receiving roles in blockbuster movies and TV series such as The Walking Dead and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Michael Rooker is surely not a stranger on the television screens and film series viewers around the world.

Personal Life

Michael was born in a large family setup in the year 1955 in Jasper, Alabama. He has nine siblings whose identities are not disclosed in his biography. The identity of his parents is also not known. Rooker grew up in his hometown of Jasper but when he was 13 years, his parents divorced and that forced a move to Chicago. In Chicago is where Rooker studied, attending Goodman School of Drama paving a way for his acting career.

Rooker has two daughters; Alynne Rooker and Gillian Rooker, from his marriage with Margot Rooker. The two exchanged vows in June 1979 and have been together ever since. Rooker and his family currently reside in California. As a celebrity, Rooker has been able to distance himself from controversy and letting out little on his personal life.

Career

Michael made his maiden acting appearance in 1986 when he starred in the film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. In the film he played Henry Lee Lucas. The role in the movie won him the Golden Space Needle Award for Best actor. In the years that followed, Michael, according to imdb, made numerous appearances in films. Among them include; Days of Thunder, The Bone Collector, Undisputed, the Marine 2 and Jumper to mention a few.

Michael has also been part of TV series such as The Walking Dead, Law and Order, CSI: Miami and the Equalizer. His role as Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead TV Series was his first recurring role on screen. Rooker outdid himself in the role as Dixon and ended up receiving Satellite Award honors for Best Cast. He also has Fantasporto honors under his name.

When not acting, Michael has been able to voice for famous video games like Call of Duty (in two occurrences), The Chronicles of Riddick and also The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Rooker also successfully directed The Lost Episode. The movie came out in 2012. Michael is a black belt holder in karate.

In 2017, Michael was part of the cast of two films in which he starred in both and upon completion, the two films were released with only two months from each other. The first one, The Belko Experiment, was a horror thriller. The other one was the highly anticipated Guardian of the Galaxy 2 where he reprised Yondu. A role he had played in the first movie of the Marvel Universe sequel. The film was a hit and it made over 850 million dollars globally.

As an active member of social media and his many years in film, Michael can boast of a following of about 2 million of Facebook and Twitter. Rooker has also been able to amass a net worth of 2 million dollars from his acting, production and directing roles in film.
