Kordell Stewart is a retired American football player. He has an eleven-year-long experience of playing for the National Football League. He is often referred to by the name Slash.

Personal Life

Stewart was born to parents Robert and Florence Stewart on 16th October 1972. He spent his childhood in Louisiana. He did his schooling at John Ehret High School. His performance in school earned him a scholarship to study at the University of Colorado in 1991. Stewart started dating Tania Richardson a few years later. They gave birth to a son named Syre, after which their relationship terminated. They never got married.

The fight over their son’s custody carried on a for a very long time. After fighting legal battles for several years, Stewart won the custody. Meanwhile, Stewart came across Porsha Williams, whose grandfather was Hosea Williams, the leader of civil rights. Porsha is an actress and a model. They met in 2009 at a lounge in Atlanta. They got married on 21st May 2011. Their wedding was a regal celebration and it got highlighted on Platinum Weddings.

After two years of married life, Stewart petitioned for divorce from Porsha on 22nd March 2013. He claimed that their marriage was irrevocably damaged. It was initially reported that he declined to pay alimony. Sources report that Stewart was caught cheating on his now ex-wife with his ex-girlfriend Tania.

Kordell is known to be a generous donor to various children's hospitals. He makes frequent tours to the hospitals to visit ill children. It has been also known that he acts as a host to children via the Make-A-Wish foundation. Stewart is also an ardent golf player. He was a carrier of a nine handicap during his tenure as a participating NFL player.

Career

After joining the University of Colorado, Stewart was coached by Bill McCartney to play for the Buffaloes. He broke all records for the Buffaloes and became the most copious player of all time. He began his NFL career signed under the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting at quarterback in the year 1997. Myron Cope, the commentator of Pittsburgh Steelers, assigned Stewart the name ‘Slash’. It signified that he was equally skilled in playing multiple positions at once.

In the year 2002, the exceedingly popular player, Tommy Maddox, replaced Stewart. In 2003, Stewart started as a starter with Chicago Bears. He delivered countless substandard performances and was soon replaced by Chris Chandler. The Baltimore Ravens signed him in the year 2004. Their agreement lasted for one season. However, the next season, he was signed in as a backup by the Ravens.

After November 2005, Stewart was removed from the team. After his end in NFL career, Stewart was seen making guest appearances on television shows like Pros vs. Joes and Deal or No Deal. Despite not attempting a pass in approximately 9 years, Kordell officially took his retirement from the NFL on 30th May 2012. Later that year, Stewart started his current role as an afternoon sports talk show host on radio.
