Jake Wood, born Jake Dylan Wood on 12th July 1972 in London, is a U.K. actor. He is particularly famous for his roles in EastEnders as Max Branning, in Only Fools and Horses as Rodney Trotter’s assistant, and in Red Dwarf as Killer Crazy. He is recognized in the USA by his voice in the “GEICO gecko”. He performed outstandingly in a number TV series such as Minder, May to December, Grave, Only Fools and Horses, and Red Dwarf to mention a few.

Personal Life

He spent his early life in Westminster, London. His father was an English man while her mother was French. He cherished the desire to become an actor from his childhood days. He is the only child of his parents. Much is not known about his parents, and ancestry. He took his training in acting for as long as 10 years at the Anna Scher Drama School in Islington, North London. Also, there is no information about his academic achievements apart from his training in acting.

He married Alison Murray, his long-time girlfriend, in 2001, and they have been blessed with two children namely Amber and Buster Wood. He had dated his girlfriend for around six years before tying the knot. He is leading a happy married life with his wife and children, and has not divorced his wife as yet.

Career

He first acted in the TV series The Gentle Touch in 1984. Since then, he has acted in a number of TV series such as Murder in Mind, Nightingales, Press Gang, London’s burning, Inspector Morse, Sean’s Show, One Foot in the Grave, A Touch of Frost, The Bill, Sea of Souls Doc Martin, and many more. Jake came to the film industry when he was just 13 years of age in the drama movie Flesh and Blood in 1985s in the role of a supporting actor. Similarly, he acted in many films such as Tube tales, Dad Savage, Lenny Blue, The Aryan Couple, Vera Drake, Dad Savage, The Illusionist, and Uncle Adolf to name just a few.

He also acted in the Yellow Pages television advertisement called “Party Party” in 1989. He appeared in computer games magazine in 1990s. He also appeared in the sitcom entitled The Wilsons as eldest son, Dougie. He became associated with the BBC soap opera entitled EastEnders, and played the role of Max Branning in June 2006. He availed paternity leave in March 2008, and resumed his stint with the tinsel world in June 2008.

He won the British Soap Awards and Inside Soap Awards for his role in the East Enders. He then acted in Only Fools and Horses in 1989. He characterised a prisoner named Kill Crazy in Red Dwarf. He also appeared in the TV series Strictly Come Dancing. He availed a break from acting from May 2015. Since, January 2018, he has been hosting a boxing podcast entitled Pound for Pound along with Spencer Oliver. As per his biography, his net worth is estimated at $3 million.
