What is Rick And Morty?

Rick And Morty is an American animated television series created by Justin Rolland and Dan Harmon. Justin Rolland is an American animator , producer and director who is the voice behind the show’s characters. Dan Harmon is known for creating and producing the NBC situational comedy, Community, which aired from 2009 to 2015. Rick and Morty is a science fiction animation that chronicles the adventures of a mean, but brilliant, inventor, and his not so brilliant grandson, as they explore other dimensions. The show debuted on December 2, 2013 and concluded its third season in 2017. In May of 2018, Cartoon Network announced that the show had been picked up for an additional seventy episodes.

The series is based on the parody-short, The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, which was created by Justin Rolland for Channel 101, the non-profit short film festival held in Los Angeles. Rolland’s original short film was a parody of the blockbuster film, Back to the Future, which starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Rick and Morty won a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Animated Series in 2018. The team behind the show was also awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program that same year.
