Todd Heap (birth name Todd Benjamin Heap), born on 16th March 1980 at Mesa, in Arizona State, U.S., is a former American football tight end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons. He took up football at an early age, and played at various levels starting from High School and culminating in NFL. His height at 1.96 metres helped him achieve many accolades including Doherty Award in 1997. He bade goodbye to professional football in 2013.

Personal Life

Heap is one among his parents’ six children; his mother, Deena Elizabeth Heap, being the cousin of former NLF player Danny White, and his great granduncle, Verl, a basketball player at Arizona State. Heap married his long-time girlfriend Ashley in 2001, and together has four children; three sons and one daughter. The three sons are twins Preston and Kyle born in 2006, and another son Cade born in 2009 while the daughter is named Brooklyn born in 2002. They had another daughter born in 2013, Holly Alivia, who was accidentally run over and killed by a moving truck driven by Heap himself in his driveway in April 2017. He received numerous condolences from across the country.

As he has himself admitted, he had a huge passion for sports, especially football. He achieved great fits in the playing arena.

Career

Heap, besides pursuing football was good at studies, too, and obtained a degree from the WP Carey School of Business after attending Mesa (AZ) Mountain View High School and Arizona State college.

He played football at his High School level to College level on to the highest level. He started his football career as a college footballer in Arizona State University as a precursor of business. He broke the record of maximum receptions of Ken Dyer by having 1115 receptions to his credit. He joined Baltimore Ravens in 2001 and lasted till 2010. Then he moved on to Arizona Cardinals in 2011 for a two-year contract. He played 12 games for the Cardinals.

He got injured on 16th September 2012 in a Week 2 game playing against New England Patriots, and he did not resume for the remaining 11 weeks. He was released by the Cardinals on 4th December 2012 as per the contract. He eventually announced his retirement from professional football in 2013., and was inducted into the Baltimore Ravens’ Ring of Honor. He was also bestowed with NFL Alumni Tight End of the year 2006.

To further his career, he joined the radio broadcast crew of the Ravens as a Color Analyst for the four games of the regular seasons in 2017. He is also active on Facebook with 16.8k followers, but not on Twitter or Instagram.
