Personal life
Born on 24th September, 1945, Lou Dobbs is the son of Lydia Mae and Frank Dobbs. While Lou’s father Frank Dobbs used to own a business, his mother was a bookkeeper. Lou’s family shifted to Rupert, Idaho when Lou was twelve years of age due to a failure in his dad’s business.
Lou attended Minico High School which is based in Minidoka County. He used to be a prominent figure in his school as he represented the school football team, played in the music band and was also a president of the student body. Lou Dobbs grew up as an intelligent scholar and was accepted by several colleges but he eventually chose to study economics from Harvard University.
Lou has been married twice in his life as of now. First, he married Kathy Wheeler in 1969 but the couple decided to part ways after witnessing several issues in their relationship. Lou was heart broken after his divorce with his first wife as she was his friend since his school days.
Years later, he began dating Debi Segura and married her in 1982 and ever since, his life has changed for the better. Debi and Lou have been blessed with six children whom they’ve named Jason, Hilary, Heather, Michelle, Chance and Buffie. As far as Lou’s social media handles are concerned, he has handled them pretty well. He posts a lot of news and quotes related to politics on his instagram profile.
Career
At the age of seventy-two, Lou Dobbs is recognized by the Americans as a television host, an author, a journalist and a shrewd businessman. Lou is known to have strong and bold opinions about politics. Lou began with his career by working for Cable News Network which he joined in 1980. He used to anchor for the show ‘Moneyline’ which talked about financial news.
Slowly and gradually, Lou led to the show becoming one of the best business programs to air on the television and simultaneously, Lou emerged as one of the most talented journalist. After working relentlessly for four years with the CNN, Lou got promoted to the position of a vice president. He was also acknowledged with the George Foster Peabody Award for covering the stock market crash which took place in 1987.
Finally when CNN launched its own network of financial news in the year 1995, it was obvious that they would turn to Lou Dobbs for this venture. Lou was declared the President of CNNfn until he departed in the year 1999. Two years later in 2001, Lou Dobbs decided to return to CNN so as to anchor for the show ‘Moneyline’. The show’s title was later changed to ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’ by which it is known till date. This program won the Emmy Award in the year 2004. Dobbs finally resigned from CNN in November 2009 and has accumulated a net worth of $16 million today.
