Melanie Griffith is known as an American film, stage, and television actress, and film producer. She is most famous for her leading role in Working Girl and her marriage to famous Latino actor, Antonio Banderas.
Melanie Griffith was born on August 9, 1957 in New York City. Her father, Peter Griffith, was a former actor turned marketing executive, and her mom, Tippi Hedren, was an actress best known for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie.
Griffith's folks separated from each other when she was just 4 years of age. She moved to Los Angeles where she was raised by her mom and her mom's second spouse, TV producer Noel Marshall. In 1963, Griffith's mom started working with Alfred Hitchcock, and despite the fact that the incredible director experienced passionate feelings for her, she dismissed his advances. Months after the filming, on her 6th birthday celebration, Melanie Griffith got a scary present from Hitchcock. He gave her a little wooden box containing a wax imitation of her mom wearing her ensemble from The Birds film.
After a long career, Melanie was asked by Elle Magazine if she ever got the chance to work with a female director, “No! I think I've worked with maybe one other female director. There's not many. I think there's something inherently different about working with females, don't you? I mean, it's just a different way of looking at life, being a woman. But I think we can handle many things at one time and I don't think that's necessarily true for men. “
Griffith started dating actor Steven Bauer whom she met on the filming of the 1981 TV motion picture She's in the Army Now. They fell in love and moved to New York together. Living with Bauer in New York, Griffith calmed down and started taking acting classes under the instructor, Stella Adler. Griffith and Bauer got married and Griffith brought their child, Alexander into the world in 1985. Griffith and Bauer separated in 1987, and she came back to habit of liquor abuse and chronic drug use.
After leaving the recovery center, Griffith reunited with her ex Don Johnson who was famous from the Miami Vice TV show. They remarried in 1989, and in October of that year Griffith gave birth to their girl, Dakota. The couple split up again in 1996.
Griffith married Antonio Banderas, her co-star in the 1995 rom-com Two Much. The two had a girl, Stella, who was born in 1996. Following 18 years of marriage, Griffith and Banderas split from each other in 2014.
