Linda Cohn was born on November 10, 1959 in Long Island, New York, USA. She did her schooling from the Newfield High school, Long Island. Linda had a penchant for playing ice hockey since her teenage. Her interest landed her into the boys’ team of her high school as a goaltender. Her childhood crushes include New York Rangers, New York Knicks, New York Mets and New York Giants.

In the year 1981, Cohn did her graduation degree in arts and communication from SUNY at Oswego. She continued her ice hockey love at college also and bagged the position of a goalie in her college’s icehockey team. Her name was listed in Oswego state athletics hall of fame in the year 2006.
Linda Cohn started her career in sports anchoring, in the year 1981 for a radio station named ‘WALK-AM/FM’ based in Patchogue, New York. There she worked for three years. Until the year 1987, she changed four employers, but all of them amongst area radio stations. Out of those her most remarkable work was with WFAN, New York as a news updater.
In the year 1987, ABC caught hold of her talent and brought her into their radio network as a sportscaster. This crowned Linda Cohn with the tag of first full-time female sportscaster in America, working for a national radio network. Back then, she anchored the program ‘WABC Talk radio,’ which continued till the year 1989.
She was hired by SportsChannelAmerica as an anchor in the year 1989. This was her first television break and that too by a channel who was the top competitor of ESPN in those days. Her next job was of a sports anchor at the KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington.
In the year 1992, Cohn was hired by ESPN, to work as an anchor for the show ‘Sportscenter.’ She has been anchoring the show regularly on weekdays from Monday to Friday, and has become quite a known face in the world of sportscasting. She is also a podcaster on the show ‘Listen closely to Linda Cohn.’ In the year 1997, she was the game predictor for the NCAA basketball tournament and her correct prediction brought her instant fame.
ESPN then entitled her to comment play by play on the WNBA telecasts, in 2005.
‘Cohn Head: A No-Holds-Barred Account of Breaking into the Boys’ Club,’ is the autobiography of Linda Cohn, which describes her tales of breaking stereotypes. This added another feather in her cap as an author.
