James DeBarge is a well known, world renowned Soul / R&B Singer who hails from America.He was the member of the family vocal singing group called DeBarge. The group became popular in the mid 80’s when their songs, “Love Me In A Special Way”, “Who’s Holding Donna Now”, “All This Love” and “Rhythm of the Night” were immensely successful hits and chart toppers.

Personal Life

James DeBarge was born on August 22, 1963 as James Curtis DeBarge. James DeBarge was the seventh child of his parents, Etterlene Abney DeBarge and Robert DeBarge Sr. He along with his siblings was born and brought up in the Eastern side of Detroit in the state of Michigan. James DeBarge’s family later moved to the Grand Rapids, which was again located in the state of Michigan, where they lived earlier.

Career

By the year 2000, James DeBarge had worked along with DJ Quik, on various tracks such as “Tha Divorce Song”, “Get Nekkid” by Mausberg, the slain rapper. In the year 2004, he also made a song with Won-G, who was the “Haitian sensation”, the song was called “Nothing’s Wrong”, it used the instrumental from “Tha Divorce Song”, another James DeBarge-DJ Quik collaboration. James DeBarge was also seen in a guest appearance with famous rapper J-Ro in his album 818 Antics. J-Ro is associated with Tha Liks, a popular rap group.

James DeBarge in collaboration with his siblings Randy and Mark, and with Andrew, his nephew and alongside a less popular niece are currently performing on a tour called DeBarge. The entire group was part of a popular concert along with The SOS Band, Mary Jane Girls and the Atlantic Starr, at the San Manuel Casino located in Highland, in the state of California called, “Flashback To the 80’s”.

Andrew was the base player for the band while in the absence of El, James was the one who would handle the position of the lead vocalist. The group weren’t the act that were billed the most yet they went onto perform a triple encore.

A great deal of James DeBarge’s popularity stems from his marriage to Janet Jackson, the pop singer sister of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The duo got married in the year 1984, however the marriage didn’t see a happy ending and was annulled by the year 1985. James DeBarge currently is a father to three children, two daughters and a son. Kristinia, the older daughter was born on March 8,1990 while the younger daughter is also his youngest child, named Tori. Tori was born in the year 2001. James DeBarge’s son, James DeBarge Jr., was born in the year 1998.

James DeBarge’s oldest daughter, In the year 2003, Kristina went on to appear in the spin off of American Idol called American Juniors while she went on to later secure a recording contract with Island Def Jam Records. Later in the year 2007, James DeBarge even performed along side brothers El and Mark. In the year 2012, James DeBarge was arrested and imprisoned for assaulting with a deadly weapons and for possession of drugs, he was then released in 2015.
