Marriage and Divorce

Amy’s first marriage with Tim McIntosh ended in divorce, in the year 2008. The couple had two daughters during their marriage. There were rumors that her affair with the secret boyfriend, Matt was a big factor in her divorce with Tim McIntosh. It was also considered to be the reason why NBC terminated her contract and Amy moved over to ABC.

Amy moved on from the failed marriage and got engaged to the former Melrose Place star, Andrew Shue. She met him at a book party in April 2009 and got engaged to him in September 2009. Amy married Andrew on her 37th birthday in 2010. Shue had three sons from his previous marriage.

The wedding ceremony was different than birthday cake and gifts. Instead, the guests gave the couple, their favorite songs and the songs played throughout the night. Robach and Shue’s wedding party consisted of Shue’s three sons and his ex-wife, Amy’s two daughters, and her ex-husband. The décor was simple and the guest list was very small. The place was totally lit with candles and the couple immediately took off to their honeymoon.

Amy was a former beauty queen and 4th runner up for Miss Georgia, in the early 90’s. She was a cheerleader before realizing her passion as a journalist. She began her broadcasting as a GA scholar in Athens and was associated with WCBD-TV for four years in Charleston as a reporter, before moving to WTTG-TV in Washington as a daily morning and nightline show anchor. She covered many stories including the 9/11 attacks and the confrontation in Iraq.

Amy Robach started her career on NBC News and MSNBC. She then became a frequent contributor for Good Morning America as a substitute for Robin Roberts. On her last day of Good Morning America, she said that she went through a lot in the past nine years. Her daughters and stepson were present with her, during the show.

Health

In 2013, Amy Robach revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and said she would take time off from broadcasting to undergo a mastectomy. She now lives with her husband in Manhattan with her two daughters.

Her husband, Andrew tweeted about Amy’s health condition, after the surgery. He tweeted on behalf of his brave girl and he said that she came out of the surgery beautifully. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she took the on-air live test for ‘GMA Goes Pink’ event. Her friend, Robin Roberts convinced her to take the test, and Amy took the results bravely, as she spoke on GMA. Her relationship with Robin Roberts is very deep and it was Robin who was there for her when she needed it most.
