Glen Campbell was a singer; he played the guitar, wrote his songs and was an emcee for TV shows and an actor as well and he was from America. He had ruled the entire musical arena with his melodious songs during 1960’s and 1970’s. He was equally popular for the comedy show that he hosted during that time.

Personal Life

Campbell was born on 22nd April 1936 in Billstown, Arkansas and was the seventh of 12 children. His parents were from a very poor sharecroppers. He was like a child prodigy and he developed interest in playing the guitar since he was 4. His uncle bought him a guitar and he practiced on that after being taught the basics. He was so good at it that he started playing at different radio studios by age 6.

Campbell left school when he was 14 so that he could work other siblings but he always listened to the songs and guitar notes of Django Reinhardt and practice, without having anyone to teach. He started working in different places and performing at church choirs and local clubs. His uncle had a band named Dick Bills and the Sandia Mountain Boys so he went to join it at 17 and performed for them. Later he found his own band Western Wranglers.

Glen conducted marriage four times and had 5 sons and 3 daughters. His first wife was Diane Kirk and his eldest daughter was Debby. After he left Kirk, he married Billy Jean Nunley who is the mother of Kelli, Travis and Kane. Later, in 1976 he married Sarah Barg and had a child named Dillon.

After this he was in a brief relationship with Tanya Tucker which ended soon and in 1982, he finally married Kimberly Woolen and she became the mother of 3 children- Cal, Shanon and Ashley. Campbell was involved into the consumption of cocaine and he was also addicted to alcohol. Although he tried giving it up but he could not stay for long and came back to it again. On 8th August 2017, Glen succumbed to life as a patient of Alzheimer’s in Nashville, Tenesee. There has been a biography that has written on him named Rhinestone Cowboy in 1994.

Career

The actor moved to LA in the 50’s to continue with his musical career and joined the band Champs for a small period of time. He joined a group of musicians in a band called the Wrecking Crew and gained much popularity out of it. In 1961, he launched his first single called Turn Around, Look at Me which became a bug hit in no time. Although he was called to be a part of the band but he refused to join the Beach Boys full time. His net worth is $50 million at the present time.

Glen's big break happened in 1967 with the sings that he sung almost touching the zenith of popularity and he was the person who gifted us with 5 Country genre hit songs. He was finally placed into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
