Stephen Belafonte is known for being a director and producer. He is most famous for being the ex-husband of recording artist and member of the popular all girl pop group Spice Girls.

Fame Background

Stephen Belafonte was born in Hollywood, California. When he was 12 years old, he moved to Point Pleasant, New Jersey with his mom and six siblings. He didn’t like the move because was almost entering the age of being a teenager and would have rather spent his growing years in his hometown of Los Angeles. When he was 18 years old, he decided to move back to his hometown.

Stephen studied at Loyola Marymount University and after graduating, he set up a film production company called Remag.

Career

Belafonte has worked on films like Thank You for Smoking (2005), Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009) and Mutant Chronicles (2008). When he worked on Bad Lieutenant, he got to collaborate with popular film stars like Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes.

He additionally produced the TV series I Pity The Fool. He met his future wife and pop star Mel B after they met on the lot of a film called Talk. The couple started dating in February 2007 after sparks of romance started to fly.

After a successful period of dating, they got married in June 2007. They had their wedding ceremony in Las Vegas and after a year they renewed their pledges before family and companions in Egypt.

Personal Life Relationships

Before his famous relationship with Mel B, Belafonte married Nancy Carmell in Los Angeles in 1997. The marriage just endured two months after she fled to her local home of Honolulu and asked for the marriage to be revoked.

After that failure of a marriage, he had a new relationship with model Nicole Contreras. Their little girl Giselle was born in 2004. The prior year before the birth, he was accused of beating Nicole at their home during a moment he was extremely drunk. It was a charge he didn't challenge.

When he was in the marriage with Mel B, he had another child. Mel brought forth their girl, Madison into the world on September 1, 2011,

Damages started to develop in their marriage after he was blamed for physically abusing her in 2014. She appeared on The X Factor UK's live Sunday show with visible wounds and scratches to her face and arms.

It was announced that Melanie Brown had sought legal separation from Belafonte and requested joint custody of Madison on March 20, 2017. She no longer could deal with the physical abuse and wanted to get away from Belafonte so that she could start a new life on her own.
