She is an alumnus of the University of Virginia. She graduated with a degree in Spanish and Foreign Affairs. Before attending the University of Virginia, she finished from a Roland Park Country School which is located in Baltimore.
Career
In 1991, Melissa Start started her career in Baltimore at WMAR-TV where she worked on the assignment desk as news intern. From 1993 to 1994, she also worked with the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather as a news intern. During this period, she helped in gathering background information and writing scripts about pieces of investigation for a correspondent on health, Dr. Arnot Bob.
She currently works at the NFL Network where she was deployed to work in the field. Towards the end of 2012, she hosted NFL Network’s first on the Field game show. She also hosted the GameDay Kickoff, a pre-game show alongside Brian Billick, Sterling Sharpe and Shaun O’Hara.
Before she joined NFL Network, she worked at NBC News. She started work as The Today Show’s national correspondent for NBC News in the month of July, in the year 2003.
The first time she featured on the NBC Sports was in the year 2004 where she contributed to interviews and reports for the coverage of Triple Crown by the network. She also participated in the eve of the New Year’s coverage for NBC which Daly Carson hosted. In the year 2009, she hosted the coverage of the year’s super bowl by MSNBC.
During the winter Olympics in the year 2006, Melissa worked as a reporter for NBC on speed skating. In the year 2008, during the summer Olympics, she worked as an anchor while during the summer Olympics in 2004, she reported on diving and swimming.
Before joining NBC News and Sports, she worked with ABC Sports from the year 2000 in the month of June she was served as a lead reporter from the side-line for 3 seasons of Monday Night Football. She also reported on golf by celebrity, Pro Bowl by NFL and figure skating. While at ABC sport, she also co-hosted a program by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon – The Runner.
Before working at ESPN, she worked at ESPN where she was employed in the year 2006. During this period she worked as Scholastic Sports America’s host. During this period, she travelled all over America where she covered college sports and high school with part interest in issue-related stories and human interest.
