When it comes to his biography, Matthew Dowd was born in the city of Detroit in the Michigan State. Her family was Irish Catholic. He was a third child in 11 children. The father was working like auto executive while the other was teaching at elementary school and she was a homemaker. The parents were affiliated to Republicans party. Dowd went to Cardinal Newman College at St Louis Missouri. He became interested in the politics when he was at Watergate committee hearing in the summer of 1973. He was only 12 years old.
When he was attending the College called St Louis, he volunteered to the campaign of the rep William Broomefield. It is for the campaign of Joseph P Teasdale. He also worked for Dick Gephardt. He started the political career like a democrats and he was a member of D-Tex of Lloyd Bentsen. He did work for Governor Bob Bullock of Texas. In the year 1999, he defaulted from Democrats and became a Republican.
In the election of 2002, he was the senior adviser for the Republican national committee. In the year 2004, he was the chief strategist of the re-election campaign of George W. Bush. She was the strategist for the reelection campaign of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
As it was reported under The New York Times, Matthew Dowd is known to have criticized George W Bush since he says that he failed in calling for the unity of the nation during the war and he ignored the will of the public for Iraq War.
When he left the administration of Bush, he fell out with the political adviser in White House called Karl Rove.
In the year 2007, he got introduced to Good Morning America as the new political contributor to the ABC and he also appears in This Week show of this same network, he co-hosts it with George Stephanopoulos.
He wrote an opinion piece that appeared in the National Journal and he was defending the wikileaks where he said that democrats and Republican come to the agreement of some topics. He said that a government, with the excuse of fighting the terrorism, he end up listening to the phone conversation and read the emails, even if there is no real reason that make them to do this.
Dowd got married two times and he also divorced two times. From the first marriage, he has three son and the second marriage was ended into a divorce and he had twin daughters but one died while in hospital. The elder son called Daniel is Army language specialist and got the job in Iraq. From 2013, he got in relationship with an ex- wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger called Maria Shriver.
