Personal life
Jill Dougherty, born in the year 1949 has pursued her undergraduate degree from Leningrad State University. She continued with her bachelor’s education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in Slavic Languages and Literature.
While pursuing her master’s degree at the Georgetown University, Dougherty started her research in Russia’s soft power diplomacy. She earned fellowship from the University of Chicago, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and later went to the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. At the age of 50, Dougherty has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Career
Jill Dougherty, after finishing her research work with Russia’s soft power diplomacy, started working as a broadcaster in Russian-language. She also wrote for the Voice of America. Impressed by her excellent research work, she was hired by the CNN. Dougherty has spent 30 years of her life at CNN as a correspondent.
She held a very prestigious position at the CNN and was in charge with the Managing Editor for CNN Asia/Pacific, US Affairs Editor, White House Correspondent. She was the Moscow Bureau Chief when working with the CNN. Dougherty works at the University of Washington in Seattle as a teacher of the US foreign policy.
