Gretchen Carlson is an American news anchor of Swedish origin, currently working with FOX News Channel as an anchor for the show, ‘The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson’; a show covering current affairs, political cases, as well as crime related reports. Earlier, she also used to co-host the show, ‘FOX & Friends’. Her previous assignment before joining FOX News Channel in 2005 was at CBS News, where she co-anchored the show ‘CBS Saturday Early Show’. Carlson has been conferred with various prestigious awards; one for "Best Series", her documentary based on the theme - domestic violence, the ‘American Women in Radio and Television’ Award, and also two National Emmy awards.
Gretchen was born and brought up in Anoka, Minnesota and completed her high school education at Anoka High School. She graduated with a degree in sociology in 1990 from Stanford University. Her first affair was with the violin; at the early age of 6, she developed the skill of playing the violin and used to practice it dedicatedly for 4 to 5 hours a day. In 1989, she became the first classical violinist to win the coveted Miss America title. Gretchen Carlson is a very energetic woman who loves to get work done quickly. On a typical day, she would wake up at 3:45 am, take a shower and leave the house for work, within 9 minutes. She takes keen interest in politics and loves interviewing various personalities on this topic.
Carlson entered into marriage with Casey Close on the 4th of October 1997. Carlson’s husband, who was earlier a professional athlete, has now become a sports agent. Gretchen, who, at that time was in her early 30’s, met her then boyfriend, Casey on a blind date. They had a lot of fun on their first date and kept dating frequently thereafter. By their third date, the soul mate connection had been created between them. They developed a common bonding based on their childhood experiences, the way they went about planning their lives and achieving their goals. Gretchen and Casey soon realized that they were meant to be together and decided to enter into marriage. They both have a lot of respect for each other and understand the job responsibilities each one has. Accordingly they both manage their children, their personal life as well as their professional life. Because of her early morning news schedule, on many days Gretchen doesn’t get the much needed time to stay up and chat with her husband; but Casey still understands her and they both make their marriage work. They also volunteer to teach at the Sunday school together. Gretchen and her husband are happily married and there is no indication of any misunderstanding that would lead to a divorce. The couple has two children; the elder one is their daughter, Kaia, aged 7, and the younger child is their 5 year old son, Christian. After completing her news assignments, Gretchen takes time off to be with her children; she helps them with their studies and also teaches them the piano. She is a perfect wife to her husband, Casey and a perfect mom to her children Kaia and Christian.
