Fiona Shaw was born on July 10, 1958 in Cobh, Ireland. She was brought up in the Roman Catholic faith. Her father, Denis Wilson, was an ophthalmic specialist and her mom, Mary, was a physicist. She went to school at Scoil Mhuire in Cork City. She got her degree in University College Cork. She prepared for her acting career at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Shaw played the male lead in Richard II, directed by Deborah Warner in 1995. Shaw has worked together with Warner on various events, on both stage and screen. In 2009, Shaw worked together with Deborah Warner once more, playing the lead role in Tony Kushner's interpretation of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children.
Shaw appeared in The Waste Land at Wilton's Music Hall in January 2010 and in a National Theater restoration of London Assurance in March 2010. In November 2010, Shaw featured in Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman at the Abbey Theater, Dublin close by Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan. The play was organized in New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2011.
Shaw appeared in season four of American TV Show True Blood. Shaw's character, Marnie Stonebrook, has been depicted as an underachieving palm reader who is profoundly controlled by a genuine witch. Her character drives a coven of sorcerer witches who undermine business as usual in Bon Temps, deleting the greater part of Eric Northman's recollections and leaving him practically vulnerable when he attempts to execute her and separate their coven.
In 2012, Shaw appeared in the National Theater recovery of Scenes from an Execution by Howard Barker. The world's biggest independent theater celebration, United Solo perceived her performance in The Testament of Mary on Broadway with the 2013 United Solo Special Award. Shaw got her biggest break when she won roles in Killing Eve and the Harry Potter film series.
In September 2019, at the 2019 Emmy Awards show, Shaw was nominated for the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award because of her performance in Killing Eve.
Fiona Shaw discovered love with a female business analyst who endured unbearable heartbreak when her whole family was cleared out in the Boxing Day tsunami. Her partner, Dr. Sonali Deraniyagala has become the love of her life. She was in a previous relationship with actress Saffron Burrows.
