Finn Carter was born in the year 1960 on March 9th. She has grew up in Greenville, Mississippi to her parents. Her father, Hodding Carter III was the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. Finn was the daughter from her father’s first wife, Margaret Ainsworth Wolfe. She went to the Walnut Hill School and has completed her graduation from the same school.
Finn has also received the degree in Performing Arts from the same school. She went to the Skidmore College after shifting to New York City and later, visited the Tulane University located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Even being an actress, she has kept her life quite simple. Finn also tries to keep her personal life away from the reach of the media. She is a very balanced person when it comes to her personal life.
Finn was previously married to Steven Weber from the year 1987. The marriage lasted for seven years and they also did not have any children. After that, Finn married James Woodruff in the year 1997 but got divorced in the year 2007. She also has two daughters from the marriage.

Finn Carter began her career with the Circle Repertory Company theatre. She was famous in the industry for the renowned role of Effie Herrington. While working in the theatre, she began her career in the television industry. Finn's first television appearance was in As the World Turns, a daytime soap opera by CBS. She was portrayed in the role of Sierra Estaban Reyes Montgomery from the year 1985 to 1988.
Finn got her first film break in the year 1989 when she was seen in the romantic comedy film, How I Got Into College. Later, Finn was seen in the popular television series China Beach and also in major roles in some of the renowned films like Sweet Justice, Ghosts of Mississippi, Halfway Decent and many more. She has also received the nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her incredible performance in the film Tremors.
