Bonnie Lynn Hunt was born on September 22, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. Her father Robert Edward Hunt was a circuit repairman while her mom Alice E. Chase was a homemaker. Chase grew up Catholic with her 6 siblings. She went to St. Ferdinand Grammar School and Notre Dame High School for Girls. Hunt got a nursing degree and in 1982, started working at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

In the popular family film Beethoven, Bonnie played Alice Newton. Alice is the spouse of George Newton, and mother of his three children; Ryce Newton, Ted, and Emily. Alice likewise assists his significant other at his place of business, Newton Air Fresheners. She is much increasingly tolerant of the family pet St. Bernard, Beethoven, who is the star of the film.

In Jumanji, Bonnie plays a role known as Sarah Whittle. In 1988, Bonnie Hunt got married to insurance broker John Murphy. Following eighteen years of marriage, the couple separated in 2006. Hunt made her bombed marriage known to the media on June 6, 2006, when she appeared on the David Letterman late night talk show. While Hunt didn't uncover the purpose of her separation, the media rushed to hypothesize that it was probably a direct result of her relationship with David Letterman. The two had met in the mid-1990s and immediately moved toward becoming companions.
